Thank you to everyone who came to our fantastic event on 13th May to celebrate the reopening of our community garden in Gateshead following two years of limited access due to the pandemic.
We were delighted to unveil our new Polytunnel, which was repaired thanks to your generous support and donations following damage in 2021. Special thanks to Ian Mearns MP for Gateshead who did the ‘ribbon-cutting’.
It was an honour to welcome our partners GemArts to unveil and celebrate the gorgeous mosaic that they helped our volunteers to create over several sessions. The mosaic – titled “We Stand Together” – was created to raise awareness of hate crime, and depicts the Comfrey Project as a safe and welcoming space.
We enjoyed welcoming new and old volunteers, friends from the local community, and our partners. Thanks also to Liz Twist MP for Blaydon who sent a supportive video message.
Our event has even featured in the Evening Chronicle which you can see here.
Our gardens and allotments make a massive difference to the lives of our communities and it’s wonderful to see them vibrant with activity again. We have ambitious plans going forward and will make sure to keep you updated.
In the meantime, you are very welcome to come and visit – we will be pleased to see you!
