Our visit to Northumberland Cheese Company at Blagdon

A big thank you to Martin at the Northumberland Cheese Company in Blagdon who gave us a fabulous tour and cheese-tasting session last week.

We were shown the process of cheese making from the delivery of the milk to the despatch of the finished product, and best of all, we tasted the product. Our gardeners loved the nettle cheese and we all went away with truckles of Blagdon Blue!

Northumberland Cheese Company have been producing artisan cheese in South Northumberland since 1984.

They’re based in a small dairy on the Blagdon Estate where they hand-make, wrap and sell a full range of 16 farmhouse cheeses, using the milk of cows, sheep, goats and jersey.

Their milk is locally sourced and each delicious mouthful of Northumberland Cheese can be traced back to the farms.

As they say, “we may be small but we have a big passion for hand crafting fine cheese and even have time to win a handful of cheese awards!”.
