Welcoming our new Chair of the Board!

We’re delighted to welcome Jane Lees, who joined The Comfrey Project as our new Chair of the Board on 1 September 2026.

Here are a few words from Jane on taking up her new role:

“I am delighted to be the new Chair of the wonderful Comfrey Project. I retired in April having spent the last 22 years as Chief Executive Officer in a local community project based in inner city Bradford. I am in the process of moving to the Northeast to be near our grandchildren. I bring many years’ experience of working in the voluntary sector alongside communities that are experiencing disadvantage, including people seeking asylum and refugees. I am strongly committed to social justice and to those who often feel their voices are not heard.

The Comfrey Project makes such a massive difference in the local community, and I am looking forward to supporting that work, listening to your views and working together to strengthen our impact and realise new potential. We are so blessed to have so many amazing people involved at The Comfrey Project, and I am excited about meeting as many people as possible and spending time getting to know you. I’m also hoping to pick up some gardening tips and learn some new skills along the way.”
