Refugee Week 2025

Refugee week is almost upon us and our team at The Comfrey Project has been working hard to plan three fantastic events to celebrate with our community.
On Tuesday 17th of June, from 11am to 2pm, our Communi-Tea team are “taking over” Gateshead Library inviting visitors to enjoy stories and rituals of tea-drinking from around the world, while enjoying creative activities like fabric printing and herb planting.
On Thursday 19th of June from 5pm to 8:30pm join us in our home, the Windmill Hills Centre for another music evening in the garden. Bring a picnic and enjoy a relaxed musical evening. You are more than welcome to join in, playing some music and/or singing – bring an instrument along if you can or use what we have. Light refreshments and snacks will be provided.
On Saturday 21st of June from 10:30am to 2:30pm we are inviting our community to demonstrate its gardening superpower with a drop-in volunteering day. Expert gardeners or completely novices are all welcome to lend us a hand – our staff and volunteers will be there to guide and help you! And to reward you there will be plenty of tea-drinking, story sharing and a hearty delicious meal cooked freshly by our volunteers, topped by a sweet treat by Ben & Jerry’s ice cream!
